Panthers CDs win big for Seattle Central District
The Seattle Central District community is celebrating this week after several CD Panthers wins over the weekend.
Converge Media’s Omari Salisbury told KIRO Radio’s Hanna Scott that two football teams – the 7U and 11U – have won their league games. In addition, the CD Panthers cheering team won their sixth consecutive championship. Three other youth football teams participated in league matches.
Salisbury said the appeal was made after shootings in the neighborhood to help support the Panthers CDs as some of the players were affected by the violence.
“Throughout the season, people showed up and showed up for practice,” he said. “It’s one of those things where when something bad happens and there is a positive outcome. It doesn’t always happen here for us and our community, but it’s definitely an example of where our community is. came together and rallied around these young people and created a sense of security and a sense of community.
Salisbury added that the Panthers CDs are a good example of ground-level prevention where young players learn responsibility, teamwork, accountability and hard work.
