DAYTON, OH, USA, October 18, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – The Central State University Foundation (CSUF) is pleased to announce new recruit Kaylah Huston as the inaugural recipient of the Lawrence & Judith Dawson scholarship program . A native of Miami Valley, Ms. Huston graduated from Trotwood-Madison High School with a GPA of 3.6. She brings her passion for athletics and her compelling desire to earn her accounting degree from Central State University, one of Ohio’s two historically black universities.
“I always wanted to go to university. I am delighted to have the opportunity to attend Central State University. With the Lawrence & Judith Dawson scholarship, I will be able to pursue my dreams at CSU, ”said Ms. Huston.
The new Lawrence & Judith Dawson scholarship program was created to attract outstanding students to CSU. The program is a four-year merit scholarship awarded to high school graduates with high academic and leadership potential, enabling students who will not only impact the classroom but also the campus community to attend CSU.
“The CSUF Board of Directors is delighted that Ms. Huston has chosen CSU, and we are even more pleased to support her academic journey through the Lawrence & Judith Dawson Scholarship Program. We look forward to seeing her talents continue to flourish at CSU, ”said Dr. Veronica Watkins, CSUF Executive Director.
The Lawrence & Judith Dawson scholarship program is the Foundation’s latest initiative. Since 2001, CSUF has raised over $ 32 million in donations, bequests and gifts to support CSU and its students. In addition to managing over 150 endowment funds, the Foundation awarded an average of $ 225,000 in scholarships per year. The CSUF has also invested heavily to strengthen academic programs and support improvements to the university campus, including the purchase of the CSU Dayton campus, construction of the Residence Hall, accreditation of the College of Education, etc.
