Banteidor Lyngdoh meets with central ministers, briefs them on needs of farmers in Meghalaya

Shillong, August 26: Meghalaya’s horticulture minister, Banteidor Lyngdoh, recently contacted the central government asking for help from farmers in the state.

While meeting with Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar on Thursday in Delhi, he briefed him on the needs of farmers.

During the same meeting, he also briefed the Union Minister on the decision taken by the State on the appropriate manure to strengthen the crops as per the Horticulture Department Office Order of August 9, 2022 .

Earlier, on August 23, 2022, he also met with Bhagwanth Khuba, Union Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers, in which he talked about giving the state its share in regards to manure and fertilizers to state farmers.

Meghalaya Government’s Department of Horticulture recently issued an ordinance stating that farmers will be able to reuse fertilizers like Urea, DAP, MOP and SSP after 8 years after the previous state government stopped to subsidize manure and fertilizer for farmers since June 12, 2014 to address the health problems caused by such manure and fertilizer in the state.
