Union Interior Minister Amit Shah on Monday stressed the need for better coordination and synergy between central and state security agencies to tackle the ever-evolving challenges of the fight against terrorism and security while organizing a high-level security meeting to review the current threat scenario and emerging security challenges in the country. Heads of the country’s security agencies, mainly central intelligence agencies, central armed police forces (CAPF), intelligence wings of the armed forces, tax agencies and financial intelligence agencies attended the meeting.
The directors general of police from the states and territories of the Union joined the meeting by video conference. Underlining the continuing threats of terrorism and global terrorist groups, the financing of terrorism, narco-terrorism, the link between organized crime and terrorism, the illicit use of cyberspace and the movements of foreign terrorist fighters, the Minister of Interior stressed the need for better coordination and synergy between central authorities. and state security agencies in addressing the ever-evolving counterterrorism and security challenges.
